Unlawful car park dealership investigated

THE owner of a pub is being investigated for running an unlawful car dealership from its car park, writes Jamie Presland.

Graham Granaski bought the Lamb in Satwell in April last year and started selling used cars from the forecourt under the name Highland Cars.

In March, South Oxfordshire District Council wrote to Mr Granaski telling him to stop trading and remove all the cars within 28 days as he was in breach of planning control regulations.

Mr Granaski, 63, says he plans to re-open the pub, which was closed more than two years ago, but needs somewhere to store and sell the cars after selling his old business premsies in order to buy the pub.

He has now submitted a planning application for a temporary change of use of the car park. But villagers have objected, saying a car dealership is inappropriate in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and that there are so many cars outside the pub that the road is blocked.
