Alien plant spotted again

JAPANESE knotweed has been found growing in hedges at a derelict site in Peppard Road, Sonning Common.

The invasive weed, which requires specialist removal, can grow as much as 20cm a day and it can form dense clumps several metres deep.

Councillor Dirk Jones raised the issue at a meeting of Sonning Common Parish Council, saying the hedges had been a problem for four years.
