Continental markets are not the real thing, say councillors

MARKETS in Henley have an adverse effect on trade in the town, retailers have said.

Traders have raised concerns about the Continental-style markets which take place four times a year during weekends.

Henley town councillors have also raised concerns about the quality and origin of some of the produce on offer.

At a meeting of the town council’s town and community committee on Tuesday night councillor Will Hamilton called for an audit of where some of the produce was coming from and what markets the council wanted in Henley.

He said: “Some of this produce is not really fitting with Henley really.
