RESIDENTS staged a sit-down protest at plans to convert a grass verge into parking bays.
They tore wooden posts out of the ground and sat on them to stop contractors from carrying out the work at Wayside Green in Woodcote.
The verge, which is owned by the parish council, has been used as an unofficial parking area since the estate was built in the Seventies.
The council says several residents have complained about damage to the grass so it wants to provide some proper parking spaces instead.
It plans to drop the kerb then strip the verge back and replace half of it with grasscrete, a type of concrete that grass grows through.
