£9,000 fines for fly-tippers

THE people responsible for 106 cases of flying tipping have been identified by environmental enforcement officers at South Oxfordshire District Council over the past year.

The council says a “significant number” of these were prosecuted and the rest were issued with warning letters, fixed penalty notices of up to £300 or a caution.

A total of more than £9,000 was paid in fines and fees by those prosecuted.
