Plan to turn verge into parking spaces put off

A GRASS verge in Woodcote might not be turned into a parking area following protests from residents.

The parish council has agreed to put the £4,000 plan on hold and discuss alternatives with objectors.

It had wanted to drop a kerb in Woodside Green and create space for up to five cars parked lengthways on the street.

It installed wooden bollards and was going to replace half the verge with grasscrete, a concrete surface that grass can grow through, when residents staged a sitdown protest and brought the work to a halt.

Seven residents of the cul-de-sac spoke against the scheme at a council meeting last week.
