Park and ride idea to solve commuter problem

A MINI park and ride could be built to alleviate parking problems near junction six of the M40 at Lewknor.

The idea was mooted by Oxfordshire county councillor Stephen Harrod at a meeting of Watlington Parish Council.

People park at the junction to catch coaches to Heathrow and Gatwick airports and to Oxford but residents have complained about commuters’ cars blocking the roads and litter.

Cllr Harrod said a market research survey was due to be carried out to find out who parked there and for how long and where they came from and were going to.

“It’s a major issue and has ripple effects across the whole division,” he said.
