RESIDENTS of Henley’s German twin town spent a long weekend here on an exchange visit.
The 47 people from Leichlingen were greeted at the town hall by Deputy Mayor Jeni Wood and Patrick Fleming, chairman of the Henley-Leichlingen Twinning Association.
The next day Mr Fleming took them to Hampton Court Palace before returning for drinks at Lovibonds brewery. On the following morning, the visitors were taken on a walk from St Mary’s Church along the Henley Reach to the Remenham Club, where they watched several Henley Women’s Regatta races.
They then walked back into town and were shown the commemorative apple sculpture that Leichlingen gave to Henley in 2012.
The artwork had been restored to its home on Gravel Hill only two days earlier after being removed for repairs.
