Boundary between parishes unchanged

NO change will be made to the boundary between Sonning Common and Peppard.

South Oxfordshire District Council made the decision at a meeting last night, accepting the recommendation of its Community Governance Review working group.

Sonning Common Parish Council wanted to move its northern boundary to run along the Stony Bottom ridge but Peppard Parish Council wanted no change.

The differing views had led to a war of words between the two communities with Sonning Common council writing an open letter to the district council accusing its two local members of actively supporting Peppard's argument.

The district council also refused a request by Sonning Common council to increase its number of members from 12 to 15.

However, it agreed that an area of land between Peppard Road and Kennylands Road should move from Eye and Dunsden parish into Sonning Common, together with Chiltern Edge School, which is currently in Kidmore End, but not its playing fields.
