Street furniture repainted

STREET furniture belonging to Henley Town Council is being repainted.

The council’s staff has been doing the work in their own time on a contract worth £8,000.

Town clerk Mike Kennedy said: “We went out to tender and the amount that came back to us - £20,000 was just ridiculous.

“One of my staff, who has painted litter bins previously, said he would like to do it. The parks services team then got wind of it and asked if they could do it as well.

“We had competition in-house to do the work and so we came to a compromise so that they could work together and the cost is half of what we were quoted.”
