Developer appeals

AN appeal has been lodged against the refusal of planning permission for six new homes at Churchfield Farm in Benson.

Castlehouse Developments applied to build two houses with two bedrooms, two with four and two with five.

South Oxfordshire District Council’s planning committee refused permission after objections by Benson Parish Council and neighbours who said it would be overdevelopment of the site.

Critics also claimed access to the former agricultural site from Oxford Road was dangerous and hadn’t been used for 20 years.

Richard Wyndham-Smith, the agent for Castlehouse Developments, said new housing would make best use of the land.
