Council opposes higher housing targets

A PROPOSED increase in South Oxfordshire’s housing targets has been opposed by Woodcote Parish Council.

The council has issued a nine-page report as part of a consultation on the plans.

A government-backed report says the district should build between 14,500 and 16,500 new homes by 2031.

The district council’s current local plan only calls for 10,600 by 2027 but it has proposed eight options for where the extra houses could go.

At least two of these would increase Woodcote’s quota of 73 homes, which is the target in its neighbourhood plan.
