PLANS for a five-bedroom house in Loddon Drive, Wargrave, have been approved despite objections by the parish council.
Wokingham Borough Council approved an application by Palatine Homes to build the “New England-style” property on the site of Meadswood and to demolish the two existing buildings.
The new house, which will be raised 2.2m off the ground to protect against flooding, will have a first floor decking area, solar panels and two car parking spaces.
Palatine Homes said the existing dwellings were at the end of their useful life and beyond repair and were susceptible to flooding.
The developer added: “The proposal seeks to replace the existing dwelling with a single residential unit with less bulk and of an appearance that is more in keeping with other properties on Loddon Drive.
