Tributes to council’s departing chairman

THE chairman of Peppard Parish Council is standing down because he is leaving the area.

David Hammond, 63, of Ashdown Way, Kingwood, has been a member of the council for four years and chairman for more than two.

He and his wife Alison are moving to Wiltshire because they wanted to downsize and move somewhere they would be less dependent on cars. The couple have two grown-up children, Paul and Mark.

Mr Hammond, who moved to the village 14 years ago when he was working in sales and marketing, said: “I have mixed feelings. It has been a thoroughly enjoyable place to be and I have enjoyed my time on the council.”

He joined the council in 2010 and served on the planning committee before becoming chairman.
