BRAKSPEAR has revived its bid to build a house next door to one of its former pubs.
Earlier this year, it was refused planning permission for a five-bedroom property in the grounds of the Sun Inn at Whitchurch Hill.
Now the Henley pub company has launched an appeal against the decision by South Oxfordshire District Council.
Brakspear sold the pub to businessman Richard Hazell last September but kept a triangular parcel of land to the west of the site which used to be the beer garden. The company then submitted a planning application that sparked opposition from villagers.
More than 100 people objected, saying the development would spoil the character of the area and threaten the Sun’s viability. They said the pub garden was regularly used for community events and was a big attraction for passing trade.
