SPECIALIST housing for the elderly in the Henley area is likely to be in short supply.
Oxfordshire County Council says the expected demand for extra care units outstrips the number currently being built.
Also known as “very sheltered housing”, these developments offer 24-hour care for people aged over 55.
The council estimates that by 2033 Henley will need 120 additional places but it has identified space for only 50 so far. The shortfall is worse in outlying villages such as Sonning Common, Goring and Woodcote, where more 200 new units are likely to be needed.
Almost 40 are under construction at Icknield Place in Goring.
