Redesign for visitor centre

THE layout of the Henley Information Centre in the town hall is could be changed.

Staff have suggested that it would be more welcoming to the public if the counter was in the middle of the room, as it was when the centre was at King’s Arms Barn.

Town clerk Mike Kennedy said: “The centre manager has long held the view that the current layout of the room is not conducive to the integration of the tourist information member of staff and the two community information staff.

“There is distance between them in the room and it is felt that if there was a central point of contact then the three members of staff could deal with questions.

“For example, there was a coachload of Japanese tourists which descended on Henley and one member of staff was dealing with 15 people. It is difficult to do that.”
