Tesco hits snag over store application

CAMPAIGNERS fighting proposals for a new Tesco store in Goring claim the supermarket giant faces mounting problems over its plans.

The retailer wants to build an Express store at the former Queen’s Arms pub in Reading Road.

It wants a 2,830 sq ft shop floor plus parking for 14 cars, a service yard and 150 sq ft of cold storage.

It does not need permission for a change of use but requires consent for the physical alterations to the building.

But campaign group Stop Tesco in Goring says the scheme has been thrown into confusion by planners.
