Council divided over new youth hall and scout hut

PLANS to replace the youth hall and scout hut in Benson have divided councillors.

Some wanted to authorise preliminary designs for replacement buildings while others felt this would be premature.

The dispute arose at a meeting of the parish council which was considering a proposal put forward by its youth facilities working group.

Councillor Teresa McTeague, who chairs the group, proposed that the council instructed Pinelog, a specialist company based in Derbyshire, to produce the designs for replacement buildings for the youth hall in Oxford Road and scout hut in Littleworth Road. This work would cost no more than £1,000 plus VAT.

Cllr McTeague said: “It was obvious that Pinelog offer a very good service and seemed to know what they are talking about.”
