Ex-Mayor voted on to parish council

A FORMER mayor of Henley has been co-opted on to Peppard Parish Council.

Barry Wood, who moved to the village in June, replaces former chairman David Hammond, who resigned in July after five years on the council.

Councillor Wood, of Stoke Row Road, was previously a member of Henley Town Council for 12 years and South Oxfordshire District Council for six years. His wife Jeni is the current Deputy Mayor of Henley.

He told the council: “I have got a wealth of experience in planning, finance and so on. I would like to think I could work well with you.”

Cllr Wood said he would be interested in joining the council’s planning committee, having been chairman of Henley Town Council’s planning committee and a member of the district council’s planning committee.
