Tree branch causes power cut in Peppard

RESIDENTS in Peppard were left without power today (Thursday) after a branch became caught in cables.

The power went off at about 7am this morning when the branches of a tree near Greys Green Golf Course in Dog Lane interfered with cables.

About 500 homes were back on by 9.30am but the power was not fully restored until 4.10pm.

Electric utility company SSE sent six crews of two to three engineers to clear trees near the cables.

A spokesman for SSE said: “Our priority is to work safely in whatever maintenance work we do so we couldn’t have the power cables live while we cut back the trees. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
