Owner in fight to make old pub home

THE owner of a former village pub is appealing against a ruling that he cannot turn it into his home.

Satwinder Sandhu bought the White Lion at Crays Pond 11 months ago and moved his family in soon afterwards.

He began gutting the building, prompting complaints from neighbours to South Oxfordshire District Council.

Mr Sandhu, from Huddersfield, then sought retrospective permission but the council turned him down. Last month, it served him with notice to quit and gave him a year to comply.

Now he is appealing to the Planning Inspectorate and must submit a detailed case by October 29.
