Ice cream seller in licence scoop after rethink on site lease

A FAMILY which has sold ice cream in Henley for more than 35 years has been reassured that its trade is safe.

Henley Town Council has decided not to consider awarding the Battistas’ trading licence to another vendor.

Instead, it has agreed to grant the family a new five-year permit.

The family provides the power supply to the two sites where they operate and the council feared they could have removed this if asked to leave.

The Battistas have had an ice cream van on the public slipway in New Street since the Eighties and a cart in Mill Meadows for more than 20 years.
