A PRESSURE group which helped secure the redevelopment of Townlands hospital in Henley could be disbanded.
The town council has taken legal advice which says maintaining the Townlands Steering Group as an advisory committee is unlawful. It was set up by the council in 2004 to help prevent the existing hospital from closing.
The group has 17 members and reports to the council every month.
Since the redevelopment of the new “health campus” began in June, members have been planning to adopt new terms of reference so the group can monitor the progress and give feedback to the council.
But when town clerk Mike Kennedy sought legal advice it produced a split view.
