RESIDENTS of a sheltered housing development in Shiplake are to be moved out as their homes are to be shut down.
Housing association Soha says it is to close the Sidney Harrison House estate, off Mill Road, rather than carry out the “substantial work” the properties require. Residents, all of whom are 50-plus, have been told there is no rush to move them but some are still concerned about where they will be living in the future.
Eighteen tenancies are affected - 14 at a block of flats and four on bungalows nearby.
Soha says it has completed consultation with the tenants but insists no deadline has been set for vacating the site. Audrey Robb, who has lived on the estate for eight years, said: “It does upset me because I don’t want to leave.
“I like everything about it — the village is lovely, the people make you feel welcome and we have every amenity that we need.
