Apology to villagers over missed rubbish collection

A WASTE management company has apologised to residents of Peppard for failing to collect their rubbish.

Six homes along the B481 near Manor Farm did not have their rubbish picked up on Wednesday last week.

Biffa, which collects rubbish on behalf of South Oxfordshire District Council, said the bins had been missed because a new driver had been unfamiliar with the area.

The company says it will return to collect rubbish if a missed bin is reported before the end of the next working day. If a bin is reported after then, it will not be emptied until the next scheduled collection. But parish councillor Valerie Ross, whose home was one of those missed, said she left her bins out again the next day but they were still not taken away.

She said many villagers would not be aware of the rules surrounding missed collections.
