Visitor centre in line for makeover

HENLEY Information Centre may be redesigned four years after a revamp that cost about £20,000.

Staff have suggested that it would be more welcoming to the public if the counter was in the middle of the room at the town hall that they share with general enquiries staff.

The town council is set to earmark £20,000 in its 2015/16 budget to alter the layout and integrate a manager’s office.

Nicci Taylor, senior committee administrator, told a meeting of the council’s town and community committee: “The design of the room is suitable for a hotel reception but not an information office.”

She said part of the money would be for new electrical points and adding partitions for greater privacy.
