Riverside cafe spot ‘misused’ by hotel

A HOTEL has been accused of misusing Red Lion Lawn in Henley.

The Red Lion Hotel has a contract to serve refreshments at the riverside beauty spot, which is owned by the town council.

Councillors have raised concerns that the hotel is taking over too much of the public area for commercial purposes.

Councillor Dieter Hinke told a meeting of the council’s town and community committee: “They are clearly doing well because they have increased their tables.”

Councillor Joan Bland said she had noticed that the hotel was taking more space.
