Meadows parking fees set to rise

CHARGES at the Mill Meadows car park in Henley are set to increase by 10 per cent at weekends and bank holidays next year.

The town council’s recreation and amenities committee has proposed raising prices from £1.50 to £1.70 for up to one hour, £3 to £3.30 for up to two hours, £6 to £6.60 for up to four hours and from £8 to £8.80 for more than four hours.

Weekday charges would remain as they are now — £1.20, £2.50, £5 and £7 respectively.

The council’s Mill Meadows and river sub-committee had recommended these also went up by 10 per but Jeni Wood, who chairs the recreation committee, objected.

She said: “In the week Mill Meadows is probably used by our own residents in which case they have already paid for all the new things we have done there in their taxes while the people who come at the weekend have not.”
