Crossing ‘not safe’

A ZEBRA crossing in Watlington town centre may be raised at the suggestion of Jeremy Irons.

The actor, who lives in the town, said raising the crossing next to the town hall in Couching Street would improve safety.

But councillor Rhian Woods said: “I don’t see how it could work. The area where we don’t have bollards the traffic uses the whole width of the road.”

The matter was discussed at a strategy committee meeting which heard there had a number of comments about the safety of the crossing.
