Potholes ‘badly repaired’

ROADS in Sonning Common are not being repaired properly, according to a parish councillor.

ROADS in Sonning Common are not being repaired properly, according to a parish councillor.

Councillor Colin Reynolds said his council was having to spend money each winter on fixing potholes because the work was not being carried out well enough by Oxfordshire County Council.

Speaking at a parish council meeting, he said: “Year after year we have the situation where we pay good money for the potholes to be fixed and then the winter comes and we have to do it again. We don’t seem to be getting anywhere further forward in mending these roads. Why do we keep filling in the holes only for them to come out every winter?”

He suggested investing in finding a technique for fixing potholes that would last years.

Councillor Paul Harrison, who represents the parish on South Oxfordshire District Council, said: “One of the problems in this county is when someone digs up the hole they only have to repair it to a certain standard.”
