Mechanics disgusted by fly-tipped rubbish

MECHANICS cleaned up a pile of tyres and furniture that was dumped on the side of a road in Henley.

Simon Bexx and Ben Harwood, from Thames View Tyres in Newtown Road, took the 16 tyres and sofa away from the road connecting Harpsden Way and the A4155 to be properly disposed of. The rubbish had been lying on the verge for at least a week and the two-seater couch was thoroughly soaked.

Company director Mr Bexx, from Checkendon, said it would be given to a registered disposer to take to Oakley Wood recycling centre. He said: “It was a blight on the landscape. Henley is a lovely town to live and work in but someone had just dumped their rubbish on the side of a road. We were disgusted at this eyesore and thought it was a goodwill gesture for the town to get rid of it at our expense.”
