‘Mud on road was problem’

THERE had been problems with mud on the A4074 before the accident.

Councillor Dave Rushton, chairman of Benson Parish Council’s recreation and lands committee, said: “The parish council was aware there were problems from time to time with mud on the road.

“We reported those problems to Agrivert, which was having construction work done at the site next to Thames Water, because it was our belief that the mud on the road was coming from the construction traffic.

“Our impression is that action has been taken. We’re satisfied with the response and the road is now in a better condition.”

Harry Waters, commercial director for Agrivert, said: “I can categorically say this was nothing to do with Agrivert. We inspected on the day of the accident and there was absolutely no mud coming into the road whatsoever. On building sites mud can be an issue but while we had issues a couple of months after the accident, we were sweeping two or three times a day.”
