Bin bags revamped

BLUE bin bags will be delivered to homes in Wargrave and Charvil over the next five weeks.

BLUE bin bags will be delivered to homes in Wargrave and Charvil over the next five weeks.

Each household will receive 80 bags, in two rolls of 40, from Veolia Environmental Services.

The bags have been redesigned following complaints by residents about the ones issued last year.

They will be taller, measuring 110cm, have longer handles at 25cm and a larger opening with a diameter of 75cm as well as being easier to fit into 90-litre bins.

Councillor Angus Ross, executive member for environment at Wokingham Borough Council, said: “We know last year’s delivery didn’t go as well as we had hoped. This year, we expect the process to run smoothly as our contractor has extensive local knowledge of ‘hard to reach’ properties.”

Residents who have already registered as a larger household of five or more people will receive additional bags by April. To register as a larger household, email wokinghamdirect@wokingham.gov.uk or call 0118 974 6000.
