Old bus depot favourite for homes

MORE than 400 residents inspected the final draft of Woodcote’s neighbourhood plan.

MORE than 400 residents inspected the final draft of Woodcote’s neighbourhood plan.

The parish council held two consultation sessions on six possible sites for housing at the village hall last week.

Out of the 250 villagers who returned questionnaires, more than two-thirds favoured development at the former Chiltern Queen bus depot in Long Toll. Less than two-thirds disagreed with the preferred sites.

Ninety per cent agreed with the council’s suggested housing mix, which favours two- and three-bedroom homes over larger properties.

Councillor Geoff Botting said: “All in all, it has been a very encouraging response to a very challenging problem.”

The village has been earmarked to take 75 new properties under South Oxfordshire District Council’s core strategy.

The plan is due to be published on April 23.
