HENLEY town clerk Mike Kennedy made a New Year’s resolution to get out of the office at least once a day and so far he has stuck to it.
I bumped into him in the town centre at lunchtime on Monday.
He was not on his way to the sandwich shop but instead was carrying a penknife and a handful of notices.
He had just been walking along Reading Road removing posters and official notices from lampposts that had exceeded their time limits.
“The notices that are put up with cable ties are the worst because you need a penknife to cut them down,” he said. “I took one down that was from 2010 — that must be a record.”
Mike is currently training to take part in next month’s Reading half marathon in aid of the Sue Ryder Hospice at Nettlebed. To sponsor him, visit uk.virginmoneygiving.com/mikekennedy55
