Recycling bins set to vanish

RECYCLING bins in the Hill Road car park in Watlington are set to be taken away.

RECYCLING bins in the Hill Road car park in Watlington are set to be taken away.

Watlington Parish Council is to ask South Oxfordshire District Council to remove them following regular misuse of the bins.

The bins have been emptied twice a week instead of once since January in order to discourage misuse but this has not made a difference.

Councillor Barry Adby said: “We are still getting complaints that people are dumping rubbish which they shouldn’t.

“We have proof that certain businesses in Watlington are using these bins and that is why they are getting filled up so quickly.”

He said the district council had taken away bins in other areas away due to the same problem.

If the Watlington bins are removed, residents will be given three months’ notice.

The council hopes to relocate the air ambulance service clothing bank.
