Parish council signals neighbourhood plan

REMENHAM Parish Council has submitted a formal application to create a neighbourhood plan.

REMENHAM Parish Council has submitted a formal application to create a neighbourhood plan.

The document presented to Wokingham Borough Council details the scope of the plan and a map of the area.

The application states that the area is adjacent to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so is highly sensitive to development.

Parish council chairman John Halsall says he expects the plan to cover issues such as development, traffic and events. He said: “I have absolutely no doubt that they will be considered in some form or other. We are quite a rural parish but we are one of the biggest land masses in the Wokingham borough so one of the purposes of the plan will be to maintain the rural nature of the parish.”

Councillors decided against including neighbouring parishes within the plan.

Cllr Halsall said residents would be consulted on the proposals and he would write to all 550 households asking for views. The neighbourhood plan group will be chaired by councillors Scott MacGregor and John Merkel.

A copy of the application can be viewed at www.wokingham. gov.uk/neighbourhood

Comments can be made until 4pm on March 11.
