Planning ahead

DIETER HINKE clearly had more than planning applications on his mind when he chaired last week’s meeting of Henley Town

DIETER HINKE clearly had more than planning applications on his mind when he chaired last week’s meeting of Henley Town Council’s planning committee.

Towards the end of the meeting, he skipped one of the items on the agenda and then defended his mistake, saying: “This is nothing to do with the second half starting in 20 minutes.”

He was referring to the Champions League clash between Manchester United and Real Madrid.

But his comment was somewhat lost on Councillor Sam Evans, the only woman at the table and a rugby fan, who said: “Can I ask who is playing?”
