Funding on offer

PARISH councils, community and business groups are being urged to apply for a total of £150,000 in grants from South

PARISH councils, community and business groups are being urged to apply for a total of £150,000 in grants from South Oxfordshire District Council.

They must put forward ideas to improve their town or village centre.

The money can be used for infrastructure improvements, such as street furniture, shop front improvements, Christmas decorations, signage and public access wi-fi.

Henley has been allocated £18,750 per year for the next two years and the 12 villages in the district can apply for a share of a separate pot of the same amount.

District council leader Ann Ducker said: “This new grant scheme will help boost the local economies in our market towns and larger villages and enhance the visitor experience.”

Projects will need to be 50 per cent match-funded and be completed by March 2015.
