Mayor brands builders a nuisance

THE Mayor of Henley has branded house builders a ?nuisance? for causing traffic jams in a residential street.

THE Mayor of Henley has branded house builders a ?nuisance? for causing traffic jams in a residential street.

Groom Design has demolished a house in Greys Road and is building two five-bedroom detached homes.

The firm, from Emmer Green, was given planning permission by South Oxfordshire District Council in January last year.

Councillor Hodgkin told Tuesday?s meeting of Henley Town Council?s planning committee meeting: ?I think it is a flippin? nuisance. That site is so crammed in so they have to park on the highway.?

She suggested the police should tackle the traffic issue. Committee chairman Dieter Hinke said that one day he saw about eight cars parked outside the site.

?They are causing awful traffic jams up there,? he said. ?The first day it happened, there were two policemen keeping control of the traffic. I thought they had arrived to help move on some of those vehicles.?

A director of Groom Design apologised, saying: ?There was always going to be some disruption and it will continue for the next few days until the timber frames are up.

?Now that the groundwork is done things will be going back to normal because all the cars and vans can now park on site.?
