Car park remarking

LINES in the Hill Road car park in Watlington are to be repainted.

LINES in the Hill Road car park in Watlington are to be repainted.

Ian Hill, chairman of Watlington Parish Council, which has commissioned the work, said: “The lines are barely there at the moment and we want to make them much more visible so that the one-way system is more obvious.

“We also want to put more distinctive markings on the short-term parking bays to make sure people realise when they are pulling into one of those that it is a two-hour parking zone.”

Councillors are also to consider moving the middle parking bay to make room for some plants.

The car park will be closed from 6pm on Saturday, May 18 through to the end of the following day so the work can take place.

The council recently applied for a parking order for the Hill Road and recreation ground car parks in order to be granted new powers to enforce restrictions instead of putting warning stickers on offenders’ cars.

Drivers using the Hill Road car park would be charged £35 for offences such as overstaying or parking in a disabled bay.
