REGULAR readers may remember first seeing this painting commemorating the Queen’s visit to Henley on the front page of the Henley Standard in December.
Now the flotilla that Her Majesty witnessed at the Henley Business School last summer has a permanent place inside the Mayor’s parlour at the town hall.
It was created by award-winning artist Bill Mundy and a print was bought by outgoing mayor Elizabeth Hodgkin and her husband Richard as a gift to the town.
She went to Bill’s house in Wargrave to have her photograph taken for a miniature of her that he was doing and he showed her his work in progress on the pageant painting.
Liz says: “I told Bill that I would love to have one and when he had finished he phoned me to see if I would like one of the copies and we came to a deal.
“It is a beautiful piece and has lovely colour on it. I am going to get a little plaque of it as well.”
