Tony Treglown, of Shiplake Bottom, told the annual parish meeting that young mothers who meet at the war memorial hall on Tuesdays have to walk on the road with their pushchairs to avoid parked cars.

“It’s not safe,” he said. “I was walking up Shiplake Bottom the other day and there was a BMW 4x4 parked with its wheels on the pavement and you get delivery vans often parking right across the pavement.

“We should ask the police to enforce the law before some accident happens. It’s really irritating and verydangerous.”

David Hammond, who chairs Peppard Parish Council, suggested that residents who spotted vehicles parked on pavements called the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number, 101.
