Signs policy renewed

UNLAWFUL advertising signs in Peppard will only be taken down if a resident complains.

UNLAWFUL advertising signs in Peppard will only be taken down if a resident complains.

The parish council has agreed to continue its policy of asking businesses that put up signs to take them down if it receives a request by a villager.

Chairman David Hammond said roadside signs were not permitted by the Highways Agency and there were planning rules governing what types of sign could be used in places where they were permitted.

He admitted that businesses might need advertising to survive but said: “We don’t want Peppard to become like some places in France and Spain where there are boards everywhere.”

The council is to ask Greys Green Golf Club to remove an A-board on the verge next to the B481.

To make a complaint, email clerk Linda Collison on clerk@rppc.org.uk
