Deputy departs

THE deputy clerk of Sonning Common Parish Council is leaving.

THE deputy clerk of Sonning Common Parish Council is leaving.

Linda Collison, 52, hopes to take up a temporary position with another council.

Ms Collison lives in Peppard, where she has been parish clerk for two years having previously served as a councillor.

She joined Sonning Common council in September when a vacancy was created because there was too much work for the clerk, Philip Collings.

Ms Collison, who has worked 12 hours per week, was involved in writing agendas and minutes and with the skate park project.

She said: “Sonning Common is a big and very active parish. It’s a lot busier than Peppard because it’s roughly three times the size.

“The skate park project has been quite interesting because it was all new stuff. I’ve been involved with fund-raising, the planning application and drawings.”

She said she would particularly miss Mr Collings, whom she called “adorable”.

Ms Collison has applied to join a parish council in Buckinghamshire where the clerk is ill. She said: “I like the idea of helping people in difficulties and troubleshooting and this is an interesting opportunity.”

Sonning Common Parish Council is looking for a new deputy clerk. To apply, email Mr Collings at clerk@ sonningcommonparish council.org.uk
