Power of good

A TOTAL of 4,300kg of batteries have been prevented from going to landfill since a new collection service was launched

A TOTAL of 4,300kg of batteries have been prevented from going to landfill since a new collection service was launched by South Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse district councils earlier this year.

Batteries can now be placed in a clear bag on the lid of the green recycling bin for collection every fortnight.

Batteries contain toxic and hazardous metals such as lead, mercury, sulphuric acid and cadmium and can cause a risk to the environment if left to decay.
