Business sign ‘too big’

A DRY cleaners in Henley has been urged to reduce the size of its sign.

A DRY cleaners in Henley has been urged to reduce the size of its sign.

Johnsons Cleaners in Bell Street has applied for planning permission to repaint the fascia but Henley Town Council’s planning committee complained that it is too big.

Chairman Dieter Hinkesaid the sign broke the rules on the size allowed for a Grade II listed property. The committee agreed to recommend that South Oxfordshire District Council refuses permission and that a second sign should be replaced with a hanging sign to be more in keeping with the street scene.

Johnsons had applied to change the colour of its existing signs from blue to green to be in line with the company’s rebrand.

The district council will make a decision by October 9.
