Pledge on grit bins

GRIT bins will be in place in Peppard and Sonning Common by the end of next month.

GRIT bins will be in place in Peppard and Sonning Common by the end of next month.

David Bartholomew, who represents the ward on Oxfordshire County Council, told a meeting of Peppard Parish Council that there were also plans in place to clear snow during the winter.

“It seems odd talking about this after such a hot summer,” he added.

Council chairman David Hammond said the priority routes were Gallowstree Road and the B481. Stoke Row Road is not prioritised but he said it often collected grit from the other roads.

Councillor Hammond said it was better to keep the main roads clear than spreading the grit too thinly over a wider area.

Residents should alert the county council if they notice grit bins that have not been filled.
