THE Woodland Trust has spent more than £6,000 on maintaining Peppard Wood over the last two years.

It provided the figures to Peppard Parish Council ahead of a meeting to discuss whether it would be interested in taking over the lease for the area.

The trust said it had spent £4,800 last year on removing all the tree guards.

Path maintenance, which includes two cuts per season, cost £550 for the last two years and this year £700 was spent on restoring the small orchard and tree safety.

Sonning Common Green Gym has expressed an interest in managing the site if the council takes over the lease.
